

LARGURA- Thomas Elio Largura, 57, passed away February 14, 2010. He was born in Gary, Indiana and spent the past 15 years residing in Atlantic Beach. He graduated from Valparaiso University. He began his career with Superior Construction Company, which has been owned and operated by the Largura family since 1938. He worked his way up to being the co-owner and president of the company. Superior Construction contributed to many roadway and bridge improvements throughout Jacksonville. Some of the projects included the Jacksonville Skyway, 9A interchange, and the Beach and Atlantic Boulevard Intracoastal Waterway Crossings. His company, which began in Indiana, employs hundreds of hardworking contractors and employees in the Jacksonville area. Thomas was an avid sports fisherman, and had a deep love for the islands and being near the water. He was a world traveler, and was remembered in his travels by his love and generosity he showed for the local people.
His most intense love, however, was for his three sons he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by Tony, Nick, and Joe Largura. He also acted as a father figure to Josie and Jackie Largura, Marjorie Largura's adopted children. He also leaves two brothers, Robert and John; his loving companion, Nancy Mason; and his former wife of 22 years and the mother of his three children, Marjorie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elio and Ruth Largura; and his sister, Toni.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville Beach.
