

He was a Filipino military veteran who achieved the rank of Private First Class. He also served in World War II under the command of the United States Armed Forces of the Far East. In 2009, he was recognized by the United States government for his contributions as a Philippine guerrilla fighter who fought alongside American soldiers during World War II.
In 1976, he immigrated with his wife, Bernardina V. Torres, to the United States and they resided in Atlantic Beach, Florida . Together they enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, cooking their native dishes and being in the company of all of their children and grandchildren.
He was devoted to his Catholic faith and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church since 1976. He was predeceased by his parents Ignacio and Gertrudes Navarro Torres, his seven siblings, Gregorio Torres, Pedro Torres, Subera Torres, Honorata Torres, Sarapio Torres, Pacencia Torres Baw and Enrique Torres. And, in 2013, he was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Bernardina Vitug Torres. He is survived by his children, Zenaida Sitson (Ruben),Cenon Torres (Lourdes), Marcelo Torres (Lolita), Teresita Duenas (Marco), Jessie Torres (Teresita), 13 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. He will be loved and missed by many including his extended family in the United States and in the Philippines.
