Allen Wayne Leonard

Allen was born on April 1, 1959 [the only boy with eight (8) older sisters] to parents Robert John Leonard and Alice Jean Wilson Leonard, in Jacksonville, FL, where he resided all of his life. Allen attended the Edward H. White High School, and graduated in May of 1977. Shortly after graduating, he attended the local junior college then known as FCCJ, majoring in accounting. However, he left there to pursue his career as an inside salesperson for a lighting company, where he continued in that field with a few different and local electric and lighting supply companies. He began his employment with City Electric Supply Company in December, 2018, which he enjoyed working as an Inside Salesman, and remained employed there through the date of his untimely death.

One of Allen’s favorite actors was the late, great John Wayne (The "Duke"), and he loved every one of his movies and probably could recite the majority of each of those movies!

One of his early hobbies was wood-crafting, including building furniture and cutting out various craft pieces for his sister, Johnel and her art group. He loved to go fishing with his father and other family members, but mostly loved to watch his father catch fish and how he would get so excited when he did. He also used to be a very big tennis player, loved bowling (although he had not been able to in years), loved to watch sports - especially the Gators, and playing video games. For the past several years he enjoyed just relaxing at his favorite Orlando Resort and to bring different family members with him.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, Robert John Leonard and Alice “Jean” Wilson Leonard; his eldest sister, Theressa Gloria Leonard Duska; and his nephew, James “Jamie” Edward Tolbert, Jr. Although Allen never married, he was a “father-figure” to several of his nephews and nieces.

He is survived by his brother-in-law, Chuck Duska, his sisters, Deanna L. Green of Middleburg, FL, Marie J. Greene (Mike) of Callahan, FL, Debbie F. Dowling (Jim) of Jacksonville, FL, Roxanne J. Parker (Scott) of Middleburg, FL, Denise D. Leonard, Johnel K. Martin, and Rita A. Brooks, all of Jacksonville, FL; his Aunt Eileen Leonard Cramer (95 years old) of Maryland; several cousins and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, all scattered throughout the upper east-coast, Georgia and Florida. Allen was the best and only brother to eight sisters and he acted more like their “big brother” than the youngest of the group.

He simply loved to play tricks or to scare his sisters (and their children) all the time, and then to laugh so hard he would almost choke himself. We will all miss our “baby” brother and the best friend any of us ever had. Everyone that knew him, knew he was a very giving person. He particularly loved to give to his two (2) favorite charities, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Mary Knoll Foundation. In his name, we ask that in lieu of flowers, that donations can be sent to these two (2) wonderful charities.

Visitation will be held at Riverside Event Pavilion, 1373 Memorial Park Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, on August 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12 PM. The Committal Service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, on August 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM.

A reception will be held, with refreshments to be provided, at the Pavilion from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM directly after the Committal Service.
