Anne B Rock

Anne Lorraine Boyd Rock was born on January 31, 1937, in Jacksonville. She was the youngest of four children born to James and Estelle Boyd. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1955, Anne began working for Southern Bell.

In 1955, Anne met the love of her life, David Raymond Rock Sr., and the two were married in 1956, beginning a beautiful marriage that would span 70 wonderful years. Together they built a loving home and raised three children. Anne lovingly devoted herself to caring for her family, staying home to raise her children until they were school-aged before later returning to work in the insurance industry.

Though small in stature, Anne was truly mighty in spirit. Her life was a reflection of love, faith, kindness, and generosity. She deeply loved her family and her church family and was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Anne had a special gift for making everyone feel welcomed. Her home was always open, and anyone who entered was treated like family. Warm-hearted, compassionate, and full of joy, she especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “MawMaw.”

Anne faithfully served God and her church for many years, teaching Sunday School and serving as a board member at West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church. Her unwavering faith and servant’s heart touched countless lives and left a lasting legacy of grace and love.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Lowell and James “Sonny” Boyd; her sister, Barbara Starling; her beloved daughter, Beverly Rock Mangum; and her precious great-grandson, Karsyn Wayne Mangum.

She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughter, Tony Gilmore; her sons, David Rock Jr. and Wayne (Nicole) Mangum; her grandchildren, Damon (Elizabeth) Fletcher, Samuel Gilmore, Ashley (Jason) English, Aaron (Sharon) Mangum, Andrew Rock, and Caleb Rock; as well as nine great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her endless love, strength, and gentle spirit.

Visitation will be held at West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church, 8376 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32221, US, on May 29, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A Celebration of Life will be held at West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church, 8376 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32221, US, on June 1, 2026, at 11:30 am.
