OBITUARY

Archie M Ganas

January 16, 1956September 28, 2019

Archie Marcus Ganas, known fondly to friends and family as “Mark,” was born on January 16, 1956 and went home to be with Jesus on September 28, 2019.

Mark was a Jacksonville native and will be remembered by all who knew him for his strong faith in God as well as his deep love of family, especially for his two children, Kathleen and Brendan. Mark was a die-hard Gator fan, accomplished musician who played piano and organ at his church, a friend to everyone he met, and a successful salesman for 35 years. In retirement, Mark spent much of his time volunteering at Loretto Elementary school in Kathleen’s classroom . He loved working with and encouraging the children.

Mark was met at the Gates of Heaven by his mother Sarah Kathleen Ganas, his father John Ben Ganas, sister Linda Potts (Sonny), sister Brenda Potts (Charles), and Maxine Loyd. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his children Kathleen and Brendan Ganas, his brother Kirby Ganas (Bonnie), sister Katrina Crumpton, and many generations of nieces and nephews.

Mark was a dear friend who was also a mentor to me in sales and business. The past two years we were able to take an annual trip to Helen, Georgia about this time of year. It was a highlight for both of us. My next trip to Helen will not be the same without him. I will miss his wisdom.

I cherished Mark's advice when it came to sales. Mark had 40 years of successful cold calling experience to his name when I met him seven years ago. Most outside sales reps don't last 30 months, but Mark was exceptional at it. He loved people and talking (ever so slow sometimes lol). Mark would relish the chance to ride with me on sales calls after he had to retire due to his health. About 3 months ago, Mark rode with me to Gainesville where his old territory was. Mark decided he wanted to "call" on some of his old customers while I made some calls I would drop him off and run my call and come back and pick him up. I had never seen Mark so happy reconnecting with people he knew for years. One of his old customers even cut his hair. I am blessed to have met Mark. I'm a better person for it today.

Mark was a genuine friend to many. He had a beautiful smile and always welcomed anyone and always tried to help anyone who needed it. We went to dinner together and played cards together. Him and I also had many long talks. I will truly miss his smile and hugs.
Mark always was chatting about his children, he was very proud of them. Very thankful that I had the privilege of knowing him and being able to say goodbye before his final journey. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mark's family during their time of grief. R.I.P. my friend.
