Astin was born in the city of Glendale, Maricopa County, Arizona at 9PM on November 24, 1986. He was the only son of Linda Osborne Conklin and Glenn Conklin.
From birth, Astin was always accommodating to others. While his mother was in labor, the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets were playing Monday Night Football and the doctor insisted that he needed to be delivered during halftime… and sure enough, he was born at halftime. He benefitted from a well traveled family and started school in Plymouth, Minnesota and still has friends there to this day. Most of his formative years were spent here in Jacksonville, Florida where he graduated from Sandalwood High School in 2005 and then graduated Automotive Technician training at Florida State College Jacksonville. His life was well spent helping others wherever and whenever possible. If it was broken, needed repair or built from scratch, Astin had the knack and know how to make it work. His contagious smile, constant ribbing and teasing were always balanced with compassion and concern for your well being. Whether good or not so good, when Astin got a thought in his head, he became a force of nature to make it happen. Everyone that knew him has an inspiring story to tell about a moment in time they shared together.
Astin was preceded in death by his grandfathers Frederick N. Conklin and James E. Osborne, cousins James C. Bourne III and Jeremy R. Conklin.
He is survived by his father Glenn Conklin, his mother Linda Osborne Conklin, his grandmothers Kazuko Conklin and Dorothy M. Osborne, his uncles Raymond Conklin and James C. Bourne Jr., his aunt Cindy M. Bourne, his “other” mother Deborah Armstrong and his best friend Andrew Donaldson.
