Barbara Evans Harrison

March 24, 1937September 7, 2013

Barbara Evans Harrison, 76, passed away on September 7, 2013 due to complications from Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was born March 24, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN and moved to Sanford, FL in 1949. She married Jack Harrison on December 28, 1956 and moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1961. She was primarily a stay-at-home housewife; however, when the children were growing up she made time to be heavily involved in Boy Scouts, San Mateo Little League, San Mateo PTA, and also a member of the State Board for Youth Bowling Association. No matter what the activity she was involved in, she reveled in teaching and mentoring children. She was known to adults as Barbara, Barb, Bobbi, or Mrs. H, but to all her “kids” she was simply “Mom”. For the past 40+ years she was passionate about genealogy, tracing multiple family lines. She also ran a small home-made craft business and participated in several craft shows throughout the year. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jack; three children Jack Lee (Anne) Harrison, David (Bonnie) Harrison, and Jessica Harrison Hendley; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; one sister Donna Avery; four nieces. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Main Street Chapel, 4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, FL. A Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 North Main Street, Jacksonville, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made: to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, In Memory of: Barbara Evans Harrison 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304, Chicago, IL 606011-3201, Funeral arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.

Bobbi and I shared email for many years. Bobbi and I are Gard descendants, and her meticulous research was always so helpful. I, just today, learned of Bobbie's passing after email sent to her has been returned to me. Tomorrow would be her birthday.

Dear Jack and Children,
I was so sorry to hear of Bobbi's death. She was a friend to me and I cared for her very much. we met through online poker and then on one of your trips to Nebraska, I was able to meet her in person. She welcomed me into her home, and she was very kind to me. We shared lunches when I moved to Jacksonville and she always ade me laugh. When you spend 2 days in a car with someone driving from Il. to Fla. you learn a lot about them. Thank you Bobbi for being my friend.

Mr Harrison and Family,

I knew Barbara thru online poker. She was Cyypy (Cyypress) to me. She was a mentor to me when I started hosting for Masque games and continued when I became a Masque Rep., but most of all she was a great friend. When I started up SNB games, she was always there to lend an ear and to let me vent. I will dearly miss her and her kind heart. My condolences to your family.
