ADD A MEMORY

Remembering my Big Brother Bennie,
I have to smile at the way he always had a joke to tell. Which was one of our Hendrix family reunion traditions.
I remember him taking me on his bicycle to the doctor to get my immunizations and me crying and sobbing all the way as he continuously comforted me and saying over and over it was going to be alright.
I remember when he would be dressed in his patrol boy uniform and how handsome he always looked and how he behaved so proudly. Then when he was a Green Cross Officer and would attend all the local sporting events, again he was crisp and polished and all business.
I love my big brother and knew that he would protect and discipline me when the situation called for it and I respected him for that, not to mention the fact that he had to grow up with three younger sisters to aggravate him and who always kept the bathrooms occupied.
We were fortunate to have a big brother like Bennie and I truly miss him very, very much.

I would rather remember my brother when he was younger, when we were younger. When we did everything together. He would ride me on his bike handle bars and we walked to school and Church together and talked about our hopes and feares. He was sweet and sensitive and eager but scared about growing up and taking on the world. I wanted us to be best friends for ever, but Benny needed to branch into his own worlds of sports and cars and trucks and travel He loved what He loved and put his whole self into that. He is very much missed.
