
Ms. Betty Joe (Jo) Duncan Ussery Aldrich was born in Alachua County on October 16, 1944, to Reverend Alexander Jefferson and Reverend Dora Catherine Tindle Duncan. Ms. Ussery passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on January 1, 2026, where she resided at Riverside Post Acute, Jacksonville, Florida.
Ms. Ussery was preceded in death by her father and mother, first husband Reverend Otis O'Dell Ussery, and second husband Edward Aldrich. She was also preceded in death by her son Rodger Dell Ussery, Sr., her daughter Catherine Joanne Ussery Gilcris and husband Larry (Gil) Gilcris and one grandson Stacey Allen Gilcris; Sisters: Elvita Martha Duncan Bauer, and Frances Ruth Duncan Sellers; Brother-in-laws Morris Bauer, Joseph Hubbard Mitchell, Timothy Warren McKnight Sr., and Donald Pangle; One Sister-in-law Judy Anne Duncan.
Ms. Ussery is survived by her sisters: Florence Elizabeth Duncan Mitchell, Hellen Phaylene Duncan McKnight, Mary Anne Duncan Pangle, and one brother, Reverend James Alexander Duncan. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Jimmy Sellers.
She is also survived by one daughter, Dori Cordle (Larry); Four (4) Grandchildren: Rodger Dell Ussery Jr., Brittany Gilcris, Amy Ray, and Tonya Jackson.
She is survived by 10 great-grandchildren: Jack Logan Ussery, Adem Campbell, Ambriah Williams, Anthony Williams Jr., Anna Belle Williams, Coleman Ray, Camryn Ray, Athel Jackson, James Jackson, Kylie Jackson.
She also has one Great-great Grandson and numerous nieces and nephews whom she leaves behind, but were loved dearly.
Reverend and Mrs. Ussery spent their early years ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ, being affiliated with the Church of God in Cleveland TN. They ministered in Florida and Washington State, including on the Indian reservations. Reverend Ussery designed and helped build several new churches during their years of service while Ms. Ussery ministered with her God given talents of playing the piano and her beautiful singing. They were also Foster Parents in the State of Florida, ministering and caring for children in need.
A special thank you to her niece, Chelsea Mitchell, for her endless love and countless hours spent at her Aunt Betty Jo's bedside. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to the nurses and staff at Riverside Post Acute for the genuine love and care over the last 5 years. Ms. Ussery unashamedly shared the love of Jesus with everyone she met and above all, wishes to see each one of you in Heaven one day.
