Betty June (Chauncey) Emery passed into her next life on June 7, 2024. Betty was born on June 19, 1934 in Live Oak, Florida. As a child she and her family worked tobacco farms in Suwannee County until moving to Jacksonville, Florida.
In Jacksonville, she met and married the love of her life, Worthy Emery whom she had been married to for fifty-nine years. She and Worthy had two children, Rick Emery (Paula Jean) and Cindy Emery. She also has two beloved grandsons, Christopher Emery, and Steven Bozeman.
During her life, Betty worked as a bookkeeper at Paxon Junior High School. She loved to travel, she went to Mexico, Alaska, the West, the Caribbean, and Europe. She was an avid Jaguar fan, having season tickets for the Inaugural Season and loved the Florida Gators. She became involved with the Eastern Star and the Khem Temple of the Daughters of the Nile. She rose through the ranks to become the leader of both local organizations. She also enjoyed dancing with the dance team of the Khem Temple. We're sure she's dancing in heaven at this very moment.
Sam Silcox and his family were a special part of both Worthy and Betty's lives, as were the nieces and nephews and her many friends that she leaves behind.
The family gives their thanks to the Windsor of Ortega where she spent the last year of her life. Also, for the outstanding care given to Betty by Haven Hospice of Orange Park and the wonderful staff there.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to www.warhorseranch.org, a Veteran's Equine Therapy in Colorado. She loved her veterans and horses.
A visitation for Betty will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. A committal service will occur at Riverside Memorial Park following the funeral service.
