Beverly Sallas Brown, age 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday morning, November 15, 2018. She was born on Friday the 13th in October of 1933, in Jacksonville, to May Agnes Schulenberg and Robert Perry Sallas. She grew up in a large, happy home with twelve brothers and sisters. She attended St. Joseph’s Academy from Kindergarten through her high school graduation. After graduation, she began work at the Atlantic Bank where she had a career for over two decades. In the early 70’s she began working for the PGA Tour, where she remained until her retirement. Beverly married Arthur Brown on January 4, 1952. Together they had two daughters, Anne (Chris) James and Dottie (Mike) Turner. Beverly moved to Atlantic Beach in the mid-70s. She loved the beach life and her entire family has fond memories enjoying the beach with her. She loved playing with her grandchildren at the beach, body surfing, building sand castles and hunting for sharks teeth. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Brown. Beverly leaves behind a legacy of two daughters, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who all lovingly refer to her as Mom-mys, a nickname her first grandson gave her decades ago. Beverly was loved, will be missed, and her memory will always be cherished.
Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30am on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Christ the King Parish, 742 Arlington Rd N, Jacksonville, FL 32211, followed by interment at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6921 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32211.
