Billie Bird Wages

Billie graduated from Valdosta State College and earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Florida. She taught sixth grade at Grand Park and Ramona elementary schools. She served as a Guidance Counselor at Butler Sixth Grade Center and Stillwell Junior High.

Billie was a devoted Christian and a member of Chaffee Road Church of Christ. She spent much of her time and resources caring for abused and abandoned animals. She served on the Board of K & C Rescue for many years. Billie was a season ticket holder for the Gator Football games. She was also a great supporter of all the Gator sports teams. An avid tennis player, Billie played well into her eighties and was a member of the Riverside Tennis Team. Billie loved to play poker, go to the Casinos and the Greyhound track.

Billie is survived by best friends Mary Frances Hazen and Hannah Summers. She is also survived by cousins Lori [Jay] Wright, Jacob and Trent Wright, Jeff Wages and Michael [Carol] Wages] all of Brunswick, GA; also Sherri Cherry of Tennessee.
