Carl E. Doan, 78, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016, in Jacksonville, FL. He was born October 7, 1937, to James and Clema Doan in Middletown, OH. Carl retired from the United States Navy as a Lt. Commander in 1984 after 30 years of service. Since that time he worked as a defense management consultant for several companies, among them Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Advanced Technology, Inc., and Systems Research Group. His area of expertise was air traffic control. His last career until his death was as a realtor with Exit Real Estate Gallery. Carl and his wife Sandra enjoyed travel, organic gardening, fitness pursuits, and socializing with friends and family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Gregory Carl Doan of Calhan, CO, and two daughters, Beth Meade (Marc) of Morrow, OH, and Michelle Healy (John) of Baltimore, MD. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 23 at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL.
