Carl Ivan Werts Sr.

Carl Ivan Werts, Sr., 80, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, passed away early Saturday morning, Jan. 5, 2013 at Memorial Hospital with his family and a dear friend surrounding his bedside in prayer and love. He was born June 1, 1932 in Alachua Florida, to L. E. & Lois Jones Werts. He had one brother Buel A. Werts – who passed away in 2002. After serving 7yrs in the U. S. Army Military Police he was Honorably Discharged in 1958. He went on to work for Moffat Bearing and Motion Industries for the next 40yrs until his retirement in 1999. Carl is survived by his wife of 57yrs, Shirley Dutton Werts, his soul mate and loving wife. He is also survived by four children, Carol Ellis, Carl (Huguette) Werts, Debra (Brian) Cribb and Richard Werts.He has Seven Grandchildren, Josh (Kristin) Werts, Justin (Brandi) Werts, Dustin, J. J., & Hanna Higginbotham, Eleanor Pittman, Roger Leach, & Jaelin Mora Werts. He also has 3 Great- Grandchildren Blake, Conner, & Hagan Werts all of Callahan, Florida. The Story of Carls life would not be complete without mentioning his love of motorcycles and his many trips to Daytona Speedway with his two sons and grandchildren to watch his favorite sport Nascar Racing. He also enjoyed after his retirement painting and wood craft. Dad will be truly missed for his love, kindness, patience, and the care he showed his family and many good friends. We LOVE YOU and will never forget you…..The family visitation to greet friends will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. 32205. Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, January 10, 2013 in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery of Jacksonville, FL. 32205, with Pastor Billy Bray officiating. Burial at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
