Carmen Reine Ludwig

Carmen Reine Merlo (Ludwig), 85 of Cadiz, Spain was called home to the Lord on Monday, February 24 th, 2025. Born on July 21st, 1939 to Rafael Reine Fernandez and Carmen Merlo Perez in Cadiz, Spain she grew up attending school, assisting the family run the bread business and spending time with her extended family of brothers and sisters. It was in Cadiz that Carmen met George Ludwig, the love of her life. They were married in Rota, Spain and spent the rest of their life until her passing traveling to where ever the US Navy took George before settling spending time between Rota, Spain and Jacksonville, Florida.

Carmen is predeceased in life by both her parents, most of her brothers and sisters and her youngest son Rex Allen Ludwig. She is survived by her oldest son Rafael (Isabel) from Cadiz, Spain, granddaughters Sara and Anita, daughter Maria from Jacksonville, Florida, grand children Bryan, Anna, Lance, Gabriella and Kingston and son George (Tara) from Nashville, TN, grand children Mark, Jake, Luisa and many other nephews and nieces.

Private family services will be held on Saturday, March 8th at 11AM at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery at 850 St. Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, Florida. After that her remains will be returned to Spain to be buried with her parents in the cemetery in Chiclana, Spain. A mass funeral will be held in Spain before her final burial.
