She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Abood and her parents, John and Ludi Cain. She is survived by her cousin Angela Wallace Banks (Garry) of Oxford, Alabama; sisters in law, Carmae DePalma of Miami, Florida; Betty Ann (Lanny) Hendricks of Orlando, Florida; Diane (John)Peed of Jacksonville, Florida; and Pat Abood of Dallas, Texas; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends who loved her dearly.
She was well loved and respected as an educator and worked diligently at her career as a teacher/administrator in Duval County, retiring from Terry Parker High School. She had many adventures over the years with her husband as they traveled around in their sailboat, castle sized motor home and trained their dogs together. They were both active members of Northeast Florida Hunt Retriever Club. Carolyn’s love of dogs, especially her “Baby Dog, Boss”, was known by all.
Above all, Carolyn had a special beauty, was fun spirited, with a quiet kindness and generosity toward everyone she met. Her love for and faith in Jesus Christ and His Word was evident in the way she lived her life with kindness, honesty, and concern for others. She was a faithful member of the Westside Family Worship Center. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A special thank you to Donna Loyd and all the lovely caregivers who treated her with love and respect during her last days.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held on Friday, February 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Westside Family Worship Center, 9717 103rd Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32210. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Westside Family Worship Center or the charity of your choice.
