Carolyn dedicated her career to caring for senior adults after earning her nursing degree in Jacksonville.
She cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who lovingly called her Nana Black. She was an avid reader and loved gardening, sewing, and needlework.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ray and Ruth Connell. She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, James Carlton Black; her children Cyndee Olsen (Stephen), Sharron Sudhoff (Joey), Skip Brown (Lisa), Kristi McNabb (Dennis), Will Petenbrink (Lacy), Rhonda Smith (Courtney) Carlton Black Jr. (Lucinda), 25 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
