He was born on July 2, 1939 to Lorraine Pear and Christopher Bersch in Plainfield, NJ. After finishing high school, he worked for a supermarket chain and was married on July 19, 1958 to Susan Long. He then went to work for Union Carbide Corp in Bound Brook, NJ as a technician in research development. He became a shift superintendent and was involved with the emergency team.
He became a volunteer fireman and EMT in Bound Brook and Hillsborough.
He moved to Jacksonville in 1982 working for UCC in Woodbine, GA before retiring in 1996. He then worked as a cabinet maker for Hugo’s. He was a train nut collecting for years and traveling to train shows.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, son David (Susan), daughters Susan and Laura Ramirez (Lenn), grandson James (Tammy), granddaughter Kristen Palmer (Gary), brother Ron (Mary), stepsister Carolyn Coxe (Don), several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Bersch family will receive friends at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills 850 St Johns Bluff Rd N Jacksonville, Florida 32225 on Saturday, July 31 2021 @ 4pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 5pm.
