David was born in Providence, Rhode Island, to his mother, Jeanette, and father, Daniel. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Julie; his son, Derek; and siblings, Craig, Daniel, and Jeanne. His father ran a junkyard that David and his brothers worked in (and David scavenged car parts from). He would occasionally take them to a local farm, fill up his station wagon with vegetables, bring it back home and let their neighbors take what they wanted from it.
David served in the Air Force for 4 years and the Air National Guard for 2 years before leaving the military and moving to Jacksonville, Florida. He used his GI bill to go to college for Information Technology at Jones College, where he met his wife, Julie Rogers. They dated for 10 years before marrying in 1994, had their son, Derek, and were married for 30 years.
David enjoyed going to car shows and working on cars with Derek, going to the beach, taking care of his fish and birds, and gardening.
David passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully in hospice with his loving family by his side, holding his hands. We would like to thank all of the doctors and nursing staff at Baptist South, Baptist Medical Center, and Community Hospice.
His celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
