Some people leave behind grand accomplishments. Debra left behind something even better, a lifetime of quiet mornings, unconditional love, and the little moments that became treasured memories for everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Debra Elizabeth Ledwick passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, just six days before her 63rd birthday. Born on June 21, 1963, she spent her entire life in Pickettville, Florida, the community she loved and was proud to call home.
If you knew Debra, you knew not to bother her too early unless you were bringing coffee. She treasured those peaceful mornings before the rest of the world woke up, sitting quietly with a warm cup in her hands while the day slowly began around her.
She never met a fast-food coupon she wouldn’t use and somehow always managed to find a deal. Her afternoons usually ended the same way, with a soap opera playing on the television, Norah Jones softly filling the room, and Lilybug curled up nearby. She loved collecting little trinkets that reminded her of the people she loved or places she’d been, and she never quite felt like herself unless her nails were painted her signature Sally Hansen red.
Her daddy, Robert, better known to so many as Bobby. Who wasn’t just her father; he was her very best friend. Whether they were taking a drive to grab supper, running errands around town, or simply spending time together, those were some of the happiest moments of Debra’s life. If you couldn’t find her at home, there was a good chance she and Bobby were off on another little adventure together.
She graduated from Paxon High School before beginning a long career with Blue Cross Blue Shield. She often spoke fondly of her “work girls,” whose friendships remained close to her heart long after the workday ended. As a lifelong resident of Pickettville, she cherished the friendships she built with neighbors and friends who became family over the years.
In the later years of her life, Debra often shared how thankful she was to have found Jesus. Her faith brought her peace, comfort, and hope, and she never hesitated to tell others how grateful she was for His love.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Ledwick and Margaret Chambers, and by her faithful companion, Lily Ledwick.
Debra loved deeply and without hesitation. She leaves behind her daughters, Monica Campbell and Samantha Hannah (Jesse), whom were the pride of her life, and becoming “Nanny” was one of her greatest joys.; Her beloved grandchildren are as follows, Gillian (Trace), Layton, Benton, Caleb, Leo, and Asher; along with her devoted brother, Joe Ledwick, and Teressa Ledwick whom Debra loved as both a sister and dear friend; her brother, Scott Murray (Shelly); her sister, Wendygail; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, neighbors, and lifelong friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Even her beloved great-grandpup, Reddie Hank, held a special place in her heart. Every Christmas, she made sure he had a gift waiting for him because, to Debra, he was family too.
If Heaven has quiet mornings, fresh coffee, Norah Jones playing softly on the radio, and a Toyota forerunner to ride in with her daddy, then we know Debra is finally home. We can picture Lilybug faithfully waiting at her feet, her nails painted bright red, a little trinket tucked away somewhere nearby, and the biggest smile on her face as she heard the words, she had longed to hear:
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
A visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, on June 23, 2026, from 9:00 am until service time at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
