The TV series, “The Incredible Dr. Pol” lost a loyal viewer on July 8, 2018. It is with great sadness that the family of Dona Joy Hayenga Kennington announces she has moved on, at the age of 70, to a better place. Known as Dee to her friends, she made her grand Earthly appearance on September 14, 1947 in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois. Dee would like you to know that her work here as a Licensed Practical Nurse of forty years is now complete. Over those years, it brought her great comfort to help others when they needed assistance. Unfortunately for those she left behind, she received an offer she couldn’t refuse! We hear this new opportunity involves Pearly Gates and a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Her new assignment takes her to a beautiful place where she will be able to watch as much television as she likes, consume bucket-loads of Breyers Black Raspberry Chocolate ice cream without gaining a single ounce, and reading old library books to her heart’s content.
Dee will be forever remembered by her sons Frank Froeber, Sal Martinez, and Glenn Kennington; her daughter-in-law Luanne Froeber; her sister Maggie Martin, a step-sister and several step-brothers. Grandma will also be fondly remembered by her 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Dee was predeceased by her daughter, Darlene Joyce Froeber, her mother, Joyce Lorraine Boss Nichols, her father Robert R. Hayenga, and brothers Daniel Hayenga and Bud Martin.
A public viewing is scheduled for Thursday, July 12 from 6 to 8 pm followed by a funeral service Friday at 11 am. Both will be held at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home, located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Memorial gifts may be made to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Miami, Florida 33134.
