Just learned of Don's passing. Angie and I wish to express our condolences to Kathy and family.  Don was a great shipmate and friend on USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55). I have wonderful memories of our time as roomies in the LDO/CWO "locker". Farewell shipmate.

I served with Don on CG50 Valley Forge.  He was an excellent technician, true Chief Petty Officer and had a unique sense of humor.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a wonderful friend and co-worker. I join with so many others who knew Don in offering our deepest sympathy on his passing. The measure of a life well-lived is not in how much money one has or what possessions they have accumulated, but rather through the lives they touched and the sorrow they leave behind. If the outpouring of sympathy on his loss is any indication, and it most certainly is, you can proudly and confidently say that his indeed was a life well-lived.
May you find peace and comfort in knowing that his loss is felt by all who knew and loved him.  Don, I will miss your smiling face every morning and being able to say good morning "Mr. Hue City."  All your friends here in the Mayport basin will sorely miss you. Rest in peace "Mr. Hue City.

My Chief's and I sat in our Mess in disbelief after hearing the news of Don's passing.  Over the last few years he was such a big part of our lives.  Indeed, you could count on one hand-- the days leading up to deployment (and re-deployment) -- which Don was not onboard our ship.  I say our ship because make no mistake Don was as much a part of our crew as any able-bodied seaman.  He is the reason for HUE CITY's success over the last few years.  If we had a problem Don “handled it” like the Master Chief he will always be!  

To the Doyle Family:
Please accept our deepest condolences for the loss of your loved one.  Unfortunately duty calls and we are on deployment in support of our country, but rest assured Don and all of you are in our thoughts and prayers.  If there is anything the  my Chief's and I can do for you in your time of sorrow all you need to do is ask—we will handle it.

To Don:
Thank you for your service to our country.  We are stronger and more capable because of your hard work and sacrifice.  I pray that God's grace will shine upon you forevermore and grant you peace.  The brotherhood of the Chief's Mess is forever.  Rest well my brother.

I had become fairly well-acquainted with Mr. Doyle through the US Navy Port Engineer Program, and in the brief time that I knew him his dedication to duty and wisdom was an inspiration to all.
