Dora Dellama Brown of Middleburg, Florida, passed away peacefully in the company of family and friends on September 4, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on April 16, 1940, in Alma, Georgia, she was the daughter of Ivy and Lois Summerlin.
Dora earned a degree from Georgia Southern and went on to work in the eye care field. She had a deep passion for painting, reading, watching westerns, and always wanted to write a novel.
Dora is survived by her children, Joey Brown, Jerry (Nanci) Brown, and Jason (Christin) Brown; grandchildren, Jennifer Gibson, Matthew Brown, Matthew Nordman, Savannah Brown, Anna Davis, Landen Davis, and Nick Davis; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Gibson, Grayson Brown, Tripp Sweatmon, and Marisa Nordman.
Dora, Dell, Mom, or Aunt Dellama was loved by all of her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed their visits and loved to have as many of them together as possible. She is also leaving a hole in the hearts of her very close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivey Summerlin and Lois (Whitley) Summerlin; and her siblings, Glen Summerlin, Eulene Pelick, and William Summerlin.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Gentiva Hospice and the staff at Middleburg Rehabilitation and Nursing Care for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held at Riverside Event Pavilion, 1373 Memorial Park Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, US, on September 13, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
A Committal Service will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, US, on September 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
