Dorothy Goodyear Harvey Porter, age 74, passed away on November 13, 2018 in Jacksonville in the same hospital and on the same floor where she was born. She was born to Louise and Charles Goodyear on December 20, 1943 in St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Dorothy “Dot” was a lifelong native of Jacksonville. She graduated Class of 1961 from Paxon High School, “The Golden Eagles”, where she received her PHD - Paxon High Diploma. She was a proud Golden Eagle and attended many class reunions over the years. She married and had two children; Rebecca and Cindy. Dot later married and lost two husbands; Milton D. Harvey and Hager Allen Porter Jr. Dot was proud of her Irish Heritage and proved it with her ability to fight to live over and over again. Her granddaughter Cynthia states “that strong stubborn woman trait” has been passed down from her to the following generations. Dot also enjoyed dancing and loved Elvis.
Dot was predeceased by her parents, Charles Price Goodyear Sr. and Louise Evelyn (Lewis) Goodyear, Husbands Milton D. Harvey and Hager Allen (Al) Porter Jr. and Brother, Charles P. Goodyear Jr.
Dot is survived by her daughters Rebecca Parry (Donny) and Cindy G. Morrison, Grandchildren; Jeffrey Dane (Shelly), Cynthia Dane, Jennifer White (Chris), Christopher Dane (Sheena), Wayne Wilkinson and Brandi Wilkinson (Chris). She is also survived by her sister, Jeanette G. Barfield (Donnie). Dot’s legacy continues with 15 great-grandchildren and one more on the way.
A visitation will be held 5 to 7 pm on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Funeral Home. A committal service will immediately follow. The Family Is being served by HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERSIDE MEMORIAL PARK and FUNERAL HOME, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
