

Dorothy Jean Simmons, 92, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2015 at Noble House Retirement of Jacksonville surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Portland, Oregon on Feb 21, 1923 to Bertrand W. Chadwick and Minnie Etta Bond Chadwick who both preceded her in death. She is preceded in death by her husband, T. A. Simmons. She worked as an Office Administrator for Boeing Aircraft and home maker. Dorothy was a member of Westside Baptist Church, Eastern Star and enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to sing and enjoyed music. She loved, supported, encouraged and provided well for her family and was cherished by all. She is predeceased by her son Richard Simmons and she is survived by her son Leroy Simmons (Erma) daughter Donna Jean Neal (Dave); grandchildren Melody Neal, Michael Neal (Dee Dee); Kristy and Andy Simmons, great grandchild Chloe Neal and 3 great grandchildren. A warm and heartfelt thank you is extended to the staffs of Noble House of Jacksonville, Riverside Presbyterian House and Community Hospice for their kind and compassionate assistance. A visitation service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday June 5 at Westside Baptist Church, 7775 Herlong Road, Jacksonville, FL, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. The interment will at Riverside Memorial Park immediately following. Immediately following her interment service, a luncheon will be held in her honor at Westside Baptist Church.
