She was born in her parent’s home in Asheboro, North Carolina, May 29, 1938, to the late Forest Garland Brown and Mary Edith Brown (Booth), but was a resident of Jacksonville, FL, since 1953. She was proceeded in death by her parents, step-father C.O. Andrews, sister Juanita White, brother David, beloved son-in-law Jimmy Shearin and beloved husband Donald James Waller. She is survived by her children Michael (Donna), Mary Shearin, Raymond (Annette), James (Bridget), Denise Rhyne (George), Edith Dix (Jim), 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren plus one on the way. She was also survived by her sisters Sylvia (Brown) Martin, Jacksonville, FL, Ruth (Brown) Munson, Alvin, TX; brother Vernon Brown, Jacksonville, FL, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Clarice (Edith) worked in the restaurant industry (Mulligans, Krystal’s and Lum’s) as well as the customer relations field (Woolco-Normandy Mall). On November 29, 1955, she married the love of her life, Donald James Waller, and enjoyed 63 years of marriage. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and a loving and caring wife, mother, granny, great-granny, sister, aunt and friend who gave love and was loved by her large growing family. She also enjoyed fishing and bowling with family and friends.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, June 1st at 11:00am in the fellowship hall at Riverside Baptist Church, 2650 Park Street, Jacksonville, FL, with lunch immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to Community Hospice or a charity of your choice.
