Ted was a loving and loved husband to his wife, Cristhel. He was a loving and beloved son to his parents, Ed and Rosemary Jenkins. Ted was an animal lover with two devoted dogs and an avid supporter of Cristhel’s activities in rescuing dogs and cats.
For the past 12 years, Ted fought a courageous battle against cancer and he fought this fight with determined strength and bravery. He will be missed greatly by his family and many friends.
Ted was born in Cleveland, OH but moved to South Florida in the 1970’s, enjoying tennis, surfing, snow skiing as well as snorkeling in the Keys. In the 1980s, he moved to Jacksonville where he attended the Bolles School and then the University of South Florida.
As VP Sales for Jenkins Food Service Equipment, a subsidiary of Tech X Services, Ted was a respected professional in the field of commercial kitchen design and construction. While working for the company, Ted learned AutoCad so he could seamlessly interface his kitchen designs with the architects designing the building. He was particularly proud of his recent projects designing and installing large commercial kitchens for San Jose CC and Sawgrass CC.
Ted was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. Throughout his long fight against cancer, he never lost this sense of humor. After listening to co-workers complain about problems they were facing, Ted was able to quip “I have all you guys beat. I’m interviewing hospice providers this week.” Humor can sometimes ease suffering.
In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation in Ted’s name to St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Riverside, 2609 Park St, Jacksonville, FL. A memorial mass will be held at St. Paul’s on November 27th at 11:00 AM.
