Joe passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida.
He was raised on a tobacco farm in North Carolina. He loved farming, gardening, and raising pigs, cows, and chickens. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and retired from A.J. Johns Inc.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Mary. He is survived by his stepdaughters, Linda Lefever (Jim) and Lenora Hagan, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, where Pastor Jeff Stafford served as pastor. He loved his church and all his brothers and sisters in Christ.
He will be greatly missed.
