Ellen S. Rumbach

RUMBACH, Ellen Platz Rumbach, 84, joined her husband, John, in the arms of the Lord on November 11, 2017. Ellen was born in Texarkana, Arkansas to John H. Platz and Alice Crook Platz on July 30, 1933. She married John Frank Rumbach, the love of her life, on May 7, 1952 and together they traveled the world and made many lifelong friends.

Her past 46 years were lived in Jacksonville, FL. Ellen’s working career was spent as an acclaimed salesperson at the Wohl Shoe Company, Utsey’s Shoe Stores and Agape Christian Bookstore. Ellen ministered alongside John as leaders of the Jacksonville Prayer Walk and as elders and leaders of the cell ministry at New Life Christian Fellowship where they were active members for the past 30 years.

Ellen enjoyed collecting dolls, her two kittens (Cutie and Buttons), juicing her delicious satsumas and providing highly sought-after Christmas presents to her grand and great grandchildren.

She loved her daughter, Rebecca Rumbach Bowser and her son, John Michael Rumbach and immersed herself in their activities growing up.

Ellen is survived by ‘Becky’ Rumbach Bowser (George), John M. Rumbach (Pat); sister, Ernestine Platz Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas and was Memo to six grandchildren, Jeremiah Bowser (Courtenay), Jessica Bowser Nelson (Brian), Jared Bowser (Lauren), Daniel Rumbach (Kelly), Amanda Rumbach Spellman (Chester) of Washington D.C., and Johnny Rumbach (Tiffany) of Lake City, FL. and soon to be ten great grandchildren, Jedidiah and Elijah Bowser, Lucas and Ephraim Rumbach, William, Graham, Rosalia, and early next year Baby Spellman, Aaron and Ruby Rumbach.

A special thank you goes to her caregivers Fran Muto and Katrina Schmidt who made her last months as pleasant as possible as well as a special thank you to her countless neighbors who defined what being a good neighbor is as they provided love and assistance as the situation warranted.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road N. Jacksonville, FL 32225.
