Eloise P. Slaughter

Eloise P. Slaughter, 81, of Jacksonville, passed away on May 10, 2012, ten years to the day of her beloved husband Bill of 48 years. Eloise is a member of the Riverside Avenue Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She retired as the first female regional manager of Continental Insurance Company in 1991. Eloise served the community as a member of the Southside Woman’s Club, The Nile and Eastern Star. Eloise and Bill proudly supported the Florida Gators by holding season tickets since 1954 and attended all home games and many away games.

Eloise is survived by her three children; Jan Beaugh (Joe), Jack Slaughter (Sam Jacobson), and Susan Walker (Jay), and three loving grandchildren; Adam Beaugh, Paige Grymes (Jamie), and Rachel Walker, and great-grandson, Jackson Grymes.

Eloise retained her dignity and loving spirit throughout her battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The family wishes to thank her church family, Wyndham Lakes Memory Care and Haven Hospice staff for their unconditional love.

A private interment was held at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville. A celebration of Eloise’s life will be held at Riverside Avenue Christian Church at a later date. In closing Eloise will be remembered for her unconditional love to all that had the pleasure of knowing her, a beautiful smile, and her determining spirit.
