Emelita Garcia De Borja, age 77, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
Our dear mother, Emelita G. De Borja, sadly passed away at home on March 8, 2023, at the age of 77.
She was born on December 5th, 1945, in Dinalupihan, Bataan, Philippines to Lorenzo and Feliza Garcia. Mom received a Bachelor's Degree in Science and Arts from Columbian College. She then began work as a telephone switchboard operator to help send her siblings to school. Later, she would go on to work as a computer operator for over twenty years at the United States Naval Base in the Subic Bay, Zambales, Philippines.
Mom enjoyed morning walks on the beach, gardening, sewing and spending time with family. She was known for her quick wit, her welcoming smile and her kind, compassionate spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo and Feliza Garcia, her sister, Miring Ylen and her brother, Ray Garcia.
Mom is survived by her husband, Jose De Borja; her children, Suzanne Claire De Borja Parrish and family (Jason, Ava Juliette, Jason Jr. and Bryson Jet), Shirley Mae De Borja Blancas and family (Dickson, Dickson Jalen, Dillon Bordy, Scarlett Mae), Emily Joy De Borja Samson and family (Ryne and Mila Monet), and Jose De Borja Jr. and family (Janiel); her sisters Tessie and Celia; brothers, Ding, Rosen, Al and Boyette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Mom will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
A Mass of Christian burial will occur on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 2:30 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2400 Mayport Road, Jacksonville, FL 32233. A committal service will immediately follow at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
