Eudora Elizabeth Turpin

Born October 2nd 1920 in Albany, Georgia to Robert and Jewel Arthur, she grew up in Americus, Georgia where she met and married the love of her life, Ayres B. Turpin Jr. on February 18th 1940. Eudora and Ayres lived in different cities and towns in both Georgia and Florida before making their home in Jacksonville around 1950. Together they would have four wonderful children, 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She had many friends and loved many people. Most importantly though, she was and is still loved by many people. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy and they wanted to be with their “Mamai” all the time. Eudora had many hobbies over the years including sewing, reading and the love for her soap operas. She absolutely loved her family and spent hours every day talking with them on the phone or at home.

Eudora was preceded in death by Ayres in April 1995 and most recently her brother Robert “Bob” Arthur who passed away last year. Eudora’s younger brother, Hugh Riley Arthur, is married to Margie Arthur and they currently reside in Macon, Georgia.

Eudora was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Lakeshore Baptist Church and in recent years a member of Westside Baptist Church. She truly loved the Lord Jesus Christ and we know that she is with Him now with Ayres finally by her side once again.

She will truly be missed and the void created by her passing will likely never be filled.

She is survived by her children Ayres “Butch” (Joyce) Turpin, Elaine (Kenneth, “Kenny”) Vansant, Timothy (Lynne) Turpin, Nancy (Richard “DJ”) Jones, grandchildren Delaine (Jeff) Bassell, Karen (Rick) Sargeant, Brady (Alicia) Turpin, Kimberly (Sandy) Lyle, Kenneth (Christy) Vansant, Randy (Katie) Turpin, Daniel (Megan) Turpin, Liese (Benjamin( Shulz, Christopher (Misty) Jones, John “Brian” Jones, Jessie (Don) Maynard, Ben (Summer) Wright, Josh (Lindsay) Wright, great-grandchildren Michael (Jessica) Lyle, Kristen Lyle, Brittany Lyle, Trey Vansant, Lindsay Vansant, Jacob Bassell, Joshua Bassell, Avery Sargeant, Andrew Sargeant, Zachery Sargeant, Laura Turpin, Ryan Turpin, Josiah Turpin, Evelyn Turpin, Adeline Ayres Turpin, Cason Turpin, Nathan Schulz, Lucas Schulz, Logan Jones, Madison Maynard, Jacob Maynard, Lily Maynard, Callie Maynard, Autumn Wright, Mallory Wright, Jaiden Wright, great-great-grandchildren Christopher Lyle, Kaiden Lyle and Allyson Lyle.

A visitation for friends will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 10-11am at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Funeral services to begin at 11am with interment at Riverside Memorial Park.
