

Eunice Davenport Leigh was taken to be with the Lord and her beloved husband on August 11th, 2014. She was born on August 19th, 1926, in Plant City, Florida, the youngest child of Otis and Vivian Davenport. She graduated from Jacksonville’s Robert E. Lee High School. On August 5th, 1949, Eunice married her childhood sweetheart, Sanford (Sandy) Sisson Leigh, and enjoyed fifty-eight years of happiness with her husband. Three children, Sanford Eugene Leigh (Tiffany), Richard David Leigh (Christine) and Carol Vivian Leigh were born to the family. Eunice faithfully served the Lord throughout her life in various capacities at Wesley and Murray Hill United Methodist Churches and at Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene. She was employed by the A&P Grocery Company, the Duval County School Board, the Office of the State Attorney, 4th Judicial Circuit and Kuhn Flowers. Eunice was an avid traveler with her husband, visiting numerous scenic and historical sites throughout the country and overseas. She greatly enjoyed her role as a homemaker; sewing, reading, cooking for family and friends and visiting community festivals near and far. Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents and her sister, Eugenia Lugo. She is survived by her children; two grandsons, Nathan Andrew Leigh (Mendy Rolfe) and Matthew Hugh Leigh; three great-grandchildren, Nathan Andrew Leigh, Sanari Rolfe and Sybbie Tatum Leigh; many nieces and nephews and countless friends and associates. Viewing and visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16th, 2014, at 10:00am., followed by an 11:00am. celebration of Eunice’s life at Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene, 4151 Old Middleburg Rd. at its intersection with Fouraker Rd. Interment will follow the service in Riverside Memorial Park with the Reverends Ben Kesselring and J. R. Deetz officiating.
