

Flora MacLean Schumacher, 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 18, 2015. Flora was born in Jacksonville, FL on May 5, 1919. Flora had Typhoid fever about 1937 along with her mother and brother, Archie. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1938. After graduation, Flora went to work for Colonial Oil for 1 year as a secretary. She then went to Stetson University in Deland, FL for one year. While she was at Stetson, Flora worked for the school doing typing to earn her a scholarship. After Stetson she returned home and went to work for Knight Bros. Paper Co where she met Edward Schumacher. In 1941 she went to work for Army Corps. of Engineers (Civil Service) as a stenographer. Flora married Edward Oct. 16, 1941. Then on December 7, 1941 the war broke out and Flora remained at the Army Corps. of Engineers at that time.
Flora is the youngest of 10 children who have all passed on along with her mother, father and grandson, Joshua Schumacher.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Stephen Schumacher and Charles Schumacher, daughter-in-law, Christine Schumacher, 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Schumacher Riner, David Schumacher, Mary Schumacher Davis, Melody Springer and Sara Schumacher, 7 great grand-children Bryan Riner, Nicole Riner, Diana Riner, Stephen Schumacher, Seth Schumacher, Riley Davis and Raegan Davis and 2 great-great grand-children, Noah Riner and Lara Townsend.
The family will receive friends and loved ones for a visitation on Wednesday, September 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 12:00 noon, Thursday, September 24 and the interment immediately following at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
