Frances A. Barnes-Jackson was born July 8, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Edward L. Anthony, Sr. and Doris Ann Anthony. Fran graduated a year early from George Washington Carver Area High School in the Summer 1974 despite moving around the country as part of a military family, where she lived in many places including Germany, New Jersey, Tacoma, Oklahoma, and Colorado. After high school, Fran traveled a while more living in places such as Alaska, Atlanta, and Tacoma. Settling back to her roots, she found her passion in Chicago, as a cosmetologist. She attended Wilfred Beauty Academy, graduating at the top of her class, and holding the position of class vice president.
Fran met and fell in love with her soulmate, Bruce D. Jackson, the fall of 1982 and a decade later, June 20, 1992, they would profess their love before God and family, and became “Animal” and “Baby.” Bruce, Fran, and their younger sons (Jab and Nik) relocated to Jacksonville, FL in June 2004 where they reunited with their eldest son (Don) and grandchildren (Amoni and Trey). She joined the Publix family and continued putting smiles on faces by running Aprons, and finished her career cooking, another one of her passions. Fran, Miss Fran, Granny Franny, Baby, and Catwoman Yum Yum are all affectionate names that she was called. She was a free spirit. She lit up a room with her smile and kind heart. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, auntie, mother-in-law, and best friend you could ever have. Anyone who has ever held a conversation with her knows that she never said goodbye, she always said “Holla!” Fran is preceded in death by her father, Edward L. Anthony; stepfather, Stanford Everett; and niece Jade Anthony. Fran leaves a legacy of love, strength, and family. She was called home by the Lord June 8, 2014.
