F. Darlynn Shad, age 57, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013 in Jacksonville, Florida. Darlynn was born May 30, 1956 in Jacksonville, Florida to James A. and Frances L. (Carter) Strickland. She was raised southern Baptist. Darlynn was a member of the Florida Music Association and a recording artist. She is survived by her two daughters, Christal Turner (Mark) and Alicia Shad; one sister F. Doreen Rains (Bruce); five grandchildren Cecilia, Alexsis, Gryphon, Lillian, and Violet; and many other family members. A Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at Franklin Street Baptist Church, 2521 Franklin Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Funeral services will follow the visitation at the church with Pastor Terry Gore officiating. In lieu of flowers family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Darlynn's honor to The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, 207 San Marco Avenue, St. Augustine, Florida 32084.
