

Frank Edwin Gurr, 86, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012. He was born on February 22, 1926 in Waycross, Georgia to Frank and Mollie Gurr. The family moved to Jacksonville in 1928. Frank joined the United States Army at 18 years old on April 24, 1944. He was wounded and spent several months in an Army Hospital and was discharged May 25, 1946. Three days later, May 29, 1946, he joined the Army Air Force, and went into Flight Basic Training in Texas, and served until May 27, 1949. After his military service he worked for the Atlantic Coastline Railroad as an Engineer, and retired from there, and went to work for the State of Florida for approximately 20 years, then retired around 1986. Frank has been a member of the Church of Christ for most of his adult life, and a member at the Wesconnett Church of Christ for many years. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Geraldine Jordan, and his brother, Mitchell S. Gurr. Frank is survived by his sister, Marjorie G. Bailey (William); niece, Carolyn Temple Bailey and her children, William Bailey Jr., and Amy J. Bailey; nephew, John Jordan (Ruthie), and their children, John and Jenny; Sister-In-Law, Heather Gurr and family. The family visitation to greet friends will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. 32205. Funeral Service will follow the family visitation at 11:00am, in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home. Burial at Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville Florida.
