Frank L. Escalante of the Waiwaiole ohana of Kapaa lived in Jacksonville, Florida, died April 4, 2013, at the age of 63. Born June 3, 1949, he went to Kapaa School and graduated from Farrington High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. He joined the US Navy in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1972 after 3 tours in Viet Nam. He was a Tech Rep for Ingersoll Rand and Dresser Rand companies that handled the military contracts for Navy, worked mostly at the shipyards, retired early and opened two automotive body shops, then retired permanently. He was preceded in death by his mother Rosalina Waiwaiole King (34 yrs. old) of Kapaa, Kauai, HI, sister Emerine Leonani King Manfreda of Hartford, CT (59 yrs. old), and brother Gene Allen King (57 yrs. old) of Central Point, OR. He is survived by his sons, Timothy L. Escalante of Kaloa, Kauai, HI and David V. Tobias of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, grandchildren Chloe, Piper and Hannah Tobias, brother Seth Umiamaka of the big island, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held at Town and Country Funeral Home in Jacksonville, FL at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Final interment and services will be held at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery in June 22, 2013 at 11:00 am.
