George was the son of George Hamilton Hatcher and Melverene Kent Stanaland. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in June of 1961. He served 8 years in The Army National Guard and was a Master Mason of the Stafford Caldwell Lodge # 342 of Jacksonville, Florida, and has been active in Masonic service for over 50 years. He was a Life Sponsor of The Knights Templar Eye Foundation, and a Keel Club Lieutenant with The United Way of Northeast Florida. He retired from the Jacksonville Electric Authority as Substation Coordinator after 37 dedicated years of service. He loved traveling with his beloved wife Carolyn of almost 60 years, entertaining family and fishing.
George was preceded by his father George Hamilton Hatcher, mother, Melverene “Pat” Stanaland, stepdad Tommy Eminizer, and sister Mavis Eminizer Raker.
George is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hatcher, his 3 sons, Phillip Morris, Nick Hatcher, Mel Hatcher (Sandy); his daughter Shelby Lynn Hatcher;12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, US, on August 10, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location at 12:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, immediately following the funeral service.
