

George Estill Motes, Jr., 94, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Born in Jacksonville on December 20, 1922, he graduated from Lee High School in 1942 and was a member of Murray Hill Baptist Church. George was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Lenawee L. Motes; parents, George E. Motes, Sr. and Lucille Motes; and sister, Alice M. Jordan. Surviving are his children, Claire Smith (George), Frances Lynne Motes, George E. Motes III (Pam), Elizabeth M. Rast (Keith), Charles B. Motes (Lori); grandchildren, Angie Reier (Gene), Tommy Smith (Cheryl), Jennifer Smith, George E. “Bubba”
Motes (Amanda), Kyle Motes, Bryan Rast, Emily Rast; great-grandchildren, Austin Reier, Bailey Reier, Rhett Smith, Reece Smith, Rayce Smith, Piper Smith, and many loving nieces and nephews. Our Dad served as a Master Mason for 55 years in the Riverside Masonic Lodge #266, a Master Chief in the United States Naval Reserve for 36 years, and was a P & E at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL for 42 years. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, August 25, 2017 at HardageGiddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the funeral home with grandson, Rev. Thomas E. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at HardageGiddens, Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Morocco Shrine Patient Transportation Fund.
