

Gerald Walter Iler, 92, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Catonsville, MD, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Jerry graduated from the University of Michigan College of Engineering with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by Diamond Power from 1949-1954 fabricating image dissector TV camera tubes; employed by General Electric from 1954-1985, engineering, manufacturing and marketing of television and space components and systems; employed by Hughes Danbury Optical Systems from 1985-1993 as Representative of Space Systems, marketing satellite and related ground systems for NASA and DOD. He was Senior Life Member of IEEE, Past Commander of Annapolis Sail and Power Squadron, Life member of NRA, Past President and Life Member of National Space Club and Foundation. He was a Sea Scout during his youth in Michigan and had a lifelong love of sailing. Jerry is survived by his wife of 70 years Jean Rae Iler, children Bonnie G. Iler, Linda R. Connell, Vicki L. Milton, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 1 brother. He is preceded in death by his parents. There will be a private family service held in his honor at a later date.
