Giovanni Leon Varias

Physical therapist and avid world traveler, Giovanni “Vanni” de Leon Varias, is now taking his greatest and final journey. Vanni was born on January 15, 1970 in Laguna, Philippines and on May 6th, 2022, Vanni passed away in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 52. He fought a hard battle with cancer, and until the end was enduringly surrounded by his loved ones.

Vanni attended De La Salle University where he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. He later immigrated with his wife, son, and daughter to start a new chapter and build roots in Florida. After settling down, he had another child and became a beloved physical therapist to all his patients. For multiple nights, Vanni could be seen rummaging around his home or scouring the Internet for bed sheets, clothes, and anything else he could offer for his patients in need. He never expected anything in return. Although many people know Vanni as a beloved physical therapist, outside of work he also loved to shop, cook, host parties, and travel. However, overall, Vanni was a family man. He never failed to be an amazing husband and a wonderful father to his family even to the end. Vanni constantly ensured his wife and kids were well-fed and rested as they cared for him. There was no doubt that Vanni’s number one priority was the wellbeing of his family.

Today, Vanni is survived by his loving wife: Kris, siblings: Stephen and Marie Antoniette, and mother: Teresita. He was a proud father to three children: Francis, Kim, and Kaela, and a wonderful grandfather to two beautiful grandkids: Elijah and Mila. He was preceded in death by his father Antonio and brother Bernard.

Vanni’s giving heart, handsome eyes, and goofy smile will be missed among all the lives he’s touched. Please join us in remembering Vanni.

A memorial service for Giovanni will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
