Glenn David Overby, 72, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on February 12, 2026. Born on February 9, 1954, David lived a full and fearless life defined by hard work, strength, devotion to God, and a deep love for his family.
At just 22 years old, after the passing of his mother, David stepped up to help raise his four younger siblings. That quiet courage and strong sense of responsibility shaped the man he became. He was tough, dependable, and never afraid of hard work.
David took great pride in providing for his family. He dedicated 18 years to working at the Jacksonville Shipyards and 27 years as a machinist for Georgia- Pacific before retiring. He could fix just about anything and always had a tool in his truck, ready to help anyone who needed it.
He loved motocross and racing at "The Hill", living fearlessly both on and off the track. Riding wasn’t just a hobby, it was his lifelong passion. He was blessed to spend his entire life doing what he loved, riding motocross until the very end.
He was preceded in death by his father Glenn David Overby, mother Mary Overby Yon, and two brothers Terrance “Rickey” Overby and John Overby. He is survived by his three children: Andrea Overby, David Allen Overby (Jacklyn), and Ashley Ossi (Ben) as well as eight grandchildren and two sisters, Glenda Overby Allen and Patricia Yon, who will honor his memory and carry forward his legacy of resilience and love.
Though he never liked being the center of attention, David left a lasting impact on everyone he met through his strength, loyalty, and willingness to lend a hand.
A funeral service will be held at St. Matthew's Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 25th at 10 am. Visitation and Rosary will be Tuesday, February 24th from 5-7 pm at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home.
David will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
