

Glennis D. Hamilton Sr., age 78, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012 in Ocala, Fl. Glennis was born April 30, 1934 in Farmers, Kentucky to Alexander and Gertrude (Swim) Hamilton. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by two brothers Elwood Hamilton and Woody Hamilton; three sisters Mayme Whietingham, Chiles Rouche, and Georgie Wilson. Glennis enjoyed the open road and spent many hours on his motorcycle with his wife Shirley traveling. He was the Founder and member of Over The Hill Trike Riders as well as a member of the Gold Wing Association. He was a member of the House of Prayer Church in Famers. Glennis also spent many hours in other organizations as a member such as the Kentucky Colonels and the founder and president of the Daniel Boone Beagle Club. If he was not out on the road traveling Glennis enjoyed playing many different strings instruments, the piano, and even enjoyed singing Gospel music. Survivors include his loving wife Shirley Hamilton; five sons Jimmy Hamilton(Teresa), Denny Hamilton Jr., Andrew Hamilton(Alison), James Rockwell, and Richard Wilson; four daughters Debbie Dixon(Jim), Denise Oakley(Phillip),Debbie McChesney(James), and Becky Tammro; two sisters Lucille Calbert and Katherine Alley; eighteen grandchildren Jimmy, Lindsey, Tommy, Denny III, Ginger, Ashley(Derek), Cody, Kayla, Jeff(Danielle), Mandy(Jason), Mason, Macoy, Kristi(Stephen), Nicki(Ron), Ashlynn, Alexis, Brianna, and Clayton; eleven great grandchildren Kaely, Cayden, Dillon, Addison, Presley, Jayden, Rylan, Greyson, Addi Baye, Dalton, and Lily. Family will receive friends and family Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 5:00- 8:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32205. A Funeral service will be held 10:00 am Sunday September 9, 2012 at the funeral home with Missionary Jim Dixon officiating. Entombment will follow the services at Riverside Memorial Park.
