Gordon Davis

Gordon Davis, age 82, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on January 26, 2022 in Orange Park, FL. He was born in Lake City, FL on December 12, 1939 to Clifton Gordon and Wana (Pruitt) Davis. He married Carolyn Ruth Loy on August 9, 1964.

Gordon received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Carson-Newman and a degree in music and religious education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a teacher in Duval County Public Schools and an administrative assistant with United Parcel Service. Gordon enjoyed playing music and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Loy Davis; son Bryan Davis; daughter-in-law Shirley Heim Davis; daughter Melanie Davis, all of Jacksonville, FL; sister and brother-in-law Clara (Davis) and Jim Roberts of Lake City, FL.; sister-in-law Myrna (Loy) Green of Knoxville, TN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harold and Dottie Loy of Knoxville, TN.; several nieces and nephews; and grand-dog Tipper.

He was preceded in death by brother Edmund Davis; mother Wana Davis; and father Clifton Davis.

A visitation for Gordon will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Normandy Park Baptist Church, 7050 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205 with funeral service starting at 11:00 a.m. A committal service will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
