

Gregory Wade Davis, 52, passed away gently on Thursday, November 29, 2012, following a battle with cancer. He was born on January 26, 1960 in Jacksonville, the only child of Betty Drew and, the late, Ron Davis. The family would like to thank the skilled doctors and caring nurses of Shands Jacksonville SICU for their compassion during Greg’s end of life. Greg was a graduate of Valdosta State University with his bachelor’s degree in biology. His professional career was in environmental hygiene as a laboratory director and microscopist with training from the McCrone Research Institute in Chicago. Greg was an avid ‘Gator’ fan and loved sports of all kinds. He also enjoyed fishing, Nascar (#24), and watching any kind of show on TV that featured motor X, skateboarding, car mechanics, home repair, or cooking. Vacations were meant for cruises to places like Alaska, the Panama Canal, and almost every island in the Caribbean. Gregory was a loving husband and son who is survived by his wife of 17 years, Kathleen Davis; his mother, Betty J. Drew; step-dad, Gerald Drew; step-family, Dawn & John Jordan, Maureen McGarigle, and Christopher & Cheryl Drew; and Spike, his miniature dashhound. The family visitation to greet friends will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. 32205. Followed by Gregory’s Memorial Funeral Service at 2:00pm. The Memorial Funeral Service will conclude at the Funeral Home. After the service, friends and family are invited to the family home.
