

Harold was born on March 9th, 1947, to Harold Bird Bragg and Winifred Elizabeth Bragg. Though he was born in Macon, Georgia, he was raised in the Murray Hills area of Jacksonville, FL and remained in Jacksonville his whole life. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1965 and from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in history in 1969. He became a master gardener and had a gift for creating beauty with plants. The beauty he created was on display throughout Baptist Medical Center downtown over the course of his 38 years of service. He loved sport, especially baseball, football, and basketball. He was a GATOR through and through!! He was an avid reader and was always writing something; be it fiction, poetry, or just journaling.
In his own words, he wanted to be remembered as, “a maintenance man who was dedicated to improving the life of my brother and others who are mentally ill. I was a strong advocate for mental health, put forth a great deal of effort to assist those with mental health issues, and belonged to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness.” In the support of his brother and others with mental illness, he was a longtime member of the Friends of NEFSH (Northeast Florida State Hospital) and the organization’s secretary for many years.
Harold was predeceased by his parents, Harold B. and Winifred Bragg; brother, Steven Bragg; and wife, Fran Bragg. He is survived by Carol and Gary Watermolen, his sister and brother in law; Michael and Kim Bragg, his son and daughter in law; Trebor and Teresa Sokol, his step son and daughter in law; grandchildren: Ashley Bowles (with her husband Nicholas Bowles), Cheryl Marie Williams (with her husband Alonzo Williams), Sydney Sokol, Christopher Sokol, and Nicholas Sokol; and great-grandchildren: Micah, Eugene, Faith, Winifred, Hannah, John, Annabelle, AJ, and Alice. He was loved, honored, and will be missed by so many more.
