Helen H. Alvis

Helen Hutcherson Alvis passed away Saturday May 16, 2015 at the age of 90. She was born April 15, 1925 in Columbia, Tennessee where she lived on a farm with her Mom, Dad and eleven brothers and sisters. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family. Helen worked very little outside the home. Instead, her focus was loving and caring for her three children, three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Logan Victor Alvis. Helen is survived by her children Jerry Alvis; wife Debbie, Glenda Westerberg; husband Jeff and Debra Alvis; husband David Beatty. Helen has three grandchildren Jackie Alvis, Michael Odom, wife Katharine, Dana Barnes and husband Chuck. Her greatest joy was time with her nine great grandchildren: Summer Miracle, Jasper Odom, Poppy Odom, Carly Barnes, Finley Barnes, Baker Griffith, Natalie Griffith, Cassandra Griffith and Charlie Griffith. Helen had one great-great grandchild, Fletcher Griffith. She was a beloved member of the Jones Road Baptist Church. Helen Hutcherson Alvis was a sweet and loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren and dear friends. The Funeral will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 729 Edgewood Ave. Tuesday May 19, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. Viewing will be just prior at 10:00 a.m.
