Dan Ballinger, 80, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026. Born on June 19, 1946, in New Market, Tennessee, Dan lived a life defined by honor, service, generosity, and unwavering love for his family.
Dan proudly and honorably served his country in both the United States Air Force and the United States Army. During his military career, he completed two tours in Southeast Asia before retiring after years of dedicated service. Though his military career eventually came to an end, the values it instilled in him—loyalty, honor, selfless service, duty, integrity, and personal courage—remained the foundation of the life he lived every day.
Dan was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man whose actions always spoke louder than words. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, asked for little in return, and loved unconditionally. His quiet strength, generosity, and steadfast character left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Anita; his children, Genena, Jessie, Amber, and Grant; his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Glenn, Denise, and Chasity. He was preceded in death by those who welcomed him home before us.
Although words can never fully capture a life so well lived, Dan's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his kindness, integrity, and selfless heart. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Florida.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Lane 3.
"The world shines a little less brightly without him, but those who loved him will carry his light forward every day. We love you, Dad. Thank you for everything."
