

Irene Quevedo Edralin, 82, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2011 following a 10-month battle with cancer. She was born in Manhattan, NY, and raised in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. In 1957, she returned to the United States, settling in Cleveland, OH, where she worked as an OR nurse at Cleveland Clinic and married her husband of 42 years, Cornel Edralin.
She is preceded by her mother and father, Consuelo and Rosalio Quevedo; brothers Penn and Florentino and her husband, Cornel; and survived by her brother Rosalio V. Quevedo, Jr., Chicago, IL, daughter, Johanna, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and son, Christopher, Jacksonville, FL.
She will be remembered for her zest for life, traveling the world, enjoying fine cuisine, foreign cultures and exploring historic sites. Always ready to capture the moment, she was rarely without her camera, and eagerly shared her memories. Elegant and graceful, she never seemed to age, and even learned to Tango at age 80. At age 81, she pursued her dream as a devout Catholic and followed the footsteps of Christ in a walking tour of Israel. Being very witty, social, vibrant, caring and compassionate, Irene will be missed immensely by many loving friends and family members.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. N. Jacksonville. Funeral service will be held at 12:30pm, Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Rd. Interment will follow in Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Rd.
